About Us - Cinemira International Children's Film Festival

Children Deserve Great Cinema Too!

The Cinemira International Children’s and Youth Film Festival is Hungary’s only film festival dedicated specifically to children and young people. Our aim is to introduce young audiences to high-quality, exciting and thought-provoking films they rarely, if ever, get to see in everyday life. This autumn, watch something new at the cinema – something you won’t find on streaming platforms.

Every year, Cinemira premieres some of the most outstanding films from around the world, often in one-off screenings. Short films, feature films, animations and documentaries for children and teenagers come to us from many different countries. We particularly seek out films that take young audiences seriously and combine high cinematic quality with authentic stories, original voices and new perspectives, while reflecting the everyday lives of children and young people.

Watch Films. Meet Filmmakers. Become a Filmmaker!

Cinemira is more than a film festival. Alongside the screenings, children and young people can meet filmmakers, get a glimpse behind the scenes, and try their hand at different areas of filmmaking.

They can shoot films, animate, dub, take part in casting, try film makeup, and meet stunt performers, directors, actors and many other film professionals.

Our aim is to offer young audiences more than simply watching films: an experience where play, self-expression and even discovering a future profession are all possible.

KIDS and YOUTH

Cinemira programs are designed for two age groups.

The Cinemira KIDS offers children and families a curated selection of Hungarian and international films, premiere screenings and interactive film programs.

The Cinemira YOUTH is aimed at teenagers and young adults. We present bold, fresh and relevant films that explore their questions, challenges, relationships and the world they live in.

Meet!

Cinemira is also a meeting point: a place where young audiences, Hungarian and international filmmakers, industry professionals and the next generation of filmmakers come together, both at the festival and through Cinemira’s professional film programs.
