This year’s Cinemira Youth and Children’s Film Festival Pitch Forum was once again a great success, with both teenage and adult creators presenting their film ideas. More than five million forints’ worth of prizes were awarded to the most promising projects.
The Telekom Special Prize of three million forints went to Dorina Gyulai for Early Morning, a sensitive short film exploring teenage shame and self-acceptance.
The Student Jury’s Grand Prize was awarded to Miki Záhonyi for his crime drama The Lamb Outside, the Wolf Within, in which young people investigate an abusive father online.
The Professional Jury selected Dorka Dolák-Saly’s short film concept The Prison Illustrator as the best project, while the Audience Award went to Gabriella Svetz for her animated series Uncle Wesley, featuring wizard cats.
In the adult category, the Grand Prize was awarded to the animated series Magical Wives, a folkloric fantasy about two sisters who discover that their mother’s new partner is not human, but a lidérc – a mythical Hungarian spirit.
The Cinemira Film Festival took place this year from October 17–19 across two Budapest venues, welcoming children, teens, and families with film screenings, creative programs, and inspiring filmmakers.
Congratulations to all participants and winners – the next generation of filmmakers is already here. See you next year!
